    20th Century Fox turned once again to Audio Mechanics to restore Tora! Tora! Tora! for its Blu-Ray release on the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. 5.1 surround, LCRS, and stereo mixes were created using new transfers of the original 6-track mag masters from 1970.

    “The Sun Legend of the End of the Tokugawa Era” from 1957 is one of Japan’s most celebrated and critically acclaimed films of all time. The Japanese film company Nikkatsu hired Audio Mechanics through a recommendation by IMAGICA corp. to perform the audio restoration of this important film.

    Paramount Pictures selected Audio Mechanics to perform the audio restoration of Cecil B. Demille’s “Samson & Delilah.” This biblical epic from 1949 won 2 oscars and will be re-released on DVD and BluRay.

    Regarded as a masterpiece of British cinema, “Colonel Blimp” is praised for its dazzling Technicolor cinematography, the brilliant performances by the lead actors. Audio Mechanics restored this film for the Academy Film Archives.

  • Alien

    Alien

    Audio Mechanics restored the audio for Ridley Scott’s breakthrough film for its 30th anniversary release on DVD / Blu-Ray. During the post-production of “Alien,” the filmmakers created several mixes conformed to different versions of the film during the months leading up to the national premiere. Thus, 20th Century Fox had 14 different original mag sources containing different versions of the film that had to be carefully evaluated, categorized, and preserved.

    20th Century Fox entrusted Audio Mechanics to perform a mono-to-5.1 surround upmix of this Academy Award winner for best picture and best sound from 1950. By combining original music cues from push/pull optical tracks, music and effects elements, and original composite prints, we were able to create a great-sounding 5.1 surround mix that you can hear on DVD and Blu-Ray today!

  • The African Queen

    The African Queen

    Paramount Pictures selected Audio Mechanics to restore this classic film from 1951. Since it was filmed entirely on location in Africa, production audio quality was significantly worse than usual. The challenge with the restoration was to find a balance between enhancing the audio clarity without sacrificing the fidelity of the original audio source.
